Obstruction

    this is a map that turned out really well, tell me what you think of it and what looks like it needs to be improved. spawns aren't up yet so that why im posting it here, so i can get feedback before posting it in the map forum.

    im just waiting for the spawns to be finished, are you serious about what you said tho?

    Yes. I am. I really like the way the map looks and just going by looks alone, I have a strong feeling that I could end up playing extremely well.

    well thanks, it was the first map that i made without drawing it out and i think it turned out well.
    for the main design, as you may be able to tell, i took the main structure form sanctuary and made it smaller and put 3 of them. the defenders base started out to prove i could merge decently, and i just went with the map from there, maybe afterwards we could get a game on it? i need testers after all.

    You should test it before you make your post in the Map Forum, that's the best way to get feedback.

    thats why im getting the spawns done right now, i just wanted to preview it to the community with some pics.

    Looks alright so far. Needs more polishing but I think it would turn out pretty well. One suggestion though of mine is to change the banshee spawn. Make it face outwards and more at the edge of the map because it is too exposed.

    Alright Pinohkio, from the first couple pictures of Obstruction, I was amazed. I really like the circular style of the buildings you've got going on. But out of all the things that bothers me about this preview, this has to be the thing that bothers me the most. You see that ramp leading up to the Banshee off to the right? Well there is a large gap between the Banshee platform and the ramp. What people usually do to get rid of that gap is they interlock the two walls so they meet at a perfect corner. I highly suggest you do that to fix one of the major problems. But other than that, I see no other major things I could suggest you fixing. Obstruction's looking good Pinohkio! Keep up the excellent work!

    i can assure you that the walls only look bumpy, I'm going to redo that part because the sand hill is unclimbable near the ramp so technically you have to start going up before you would normally need to.
    i think i might actually take the suggestion of making it face outward, all though it works well as it is. ofcourse, you wouldnt have had a way to understand that because its only a preview

    The Attackers base is what has me questioning things...

    They have the cool little walkways to get around the map quickly, but the only obviopus ways to get on them are to stand on the 'hog or nade jump...

    Also, please don't go with the Utah Mambo mistake of putting the flag outside that huge base. It just make the Defenders REALLY underpowered.

    i liked the utah mambo flag games....
    in the pic with the attackers base, there are two ramps, they just didnt spawn jet as i was gonna interlock em, when i got sidetracked and then i took screenies. i'll uppdate the pic when i get on xbox in about an hour or so.

    Utah Mambo Flag was terrible. There was no way for the defenders to actually defend the flag, as you would always be sniper food while watching over it.

    The base size didn't accoun't for **** when you couldn't use it. Maybe if the flag had actually bee INSIDE the base... *sigh* Such great forging, wasted on such a terrible map.

    The map looks to covered,I dough the banshee will be very usefull,try giving it a 120 sec spawn. but that is just from looks. i'll see what happens when its done. Because spawns can brake or make a map.

    That is probably one of the dumbest things I have heard.

    The fact that the flag is on a ledge high above the ground eliminates any need for it to be inside the base. Plus, the distance between it and the offensive base also negates any need for it to be inside. If it was inside at the distance it is at now, it would make the game too hard for the offensive team. The map also retains balance in gameplay in making the defenders have to do just as much work defending the flag as the attackers trying to capture it. Putting it inside will cause a shift in balance toward the defense by making it just a simple game of camp-the-****-out-of-the-flag-room-until-times-up. Why do you think a good majority of Bungie-created maps have the flags outside of the base? So that the games maintain balance and the workload for both teams is relatively the same.

    Besides, there is a reason why Utah Mambo is in Matchmaking. It's because it's good and plays good.

    the banshee serves as more of a power weapon than a vehicle, but there are counter power weapns as well, attackers ave a laser on 90 sec spawn, and defenddeer have a rocket lawnchair with one spare clip and 90 sec spawn as well.
    spawns are up but they need to be tweaked, send me a message if you'd like to come test them, i need atleast 4v4 teams.

    maybe merge those walls down into the block so you don't need a ramp

    Laser should be at 120 or 150. Banshee should be at 180. Rockets should be at 120 (though if it's 0 clips, 90 is acceptable.)

    i still have to tweak it tho, so whatever needs to be changed will be after testing.

    the spawns are basically done, i just need some dudes to test it so i can tweak, i need even teams of 4 5 or 6.

    I love the overall look of the map, but does it really need a banshee?
