The claim that Julius Caesar existed (just like Jesus/God exists) is unbelievable? (At least that's what you're inferring) Well, I think your fellow atheists have something to say about that... Well, you yourself gave a good connection between Jesus and Julius Caesar: Very good, you've managed to reply to your own statement. Now, let me finish this off with a quote: “Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure.” -George E. Woodberry So we're all winners, if that's what you're concerned about.
Well stared. Erico got pwned again! Again, like you said, your an idiot and never really set a trap. Like Sheogorath mentioned, we have physical evidence of Julius Cesar walking the Earth. But not Jesus. You are fighting a loosing battle with spam, idiocy, and a ton of bad sources. Anytime soon, and I'll be throwing the argument that unconverted me at you. Then things will get interesting. Sheogorath also has a good point in that we are debating the existance of God, not his "son". So it is a little bit irrelavent. Religion is a bunch of absurd rules and the "supernatural". Probability makes more sense and is the more senseful thing to understand. EDIT: Way to twist peoples words and misinterpret them. Please STFU. I'm done and got to "go to school".
Yes, Gollygeeanelite, defeat is harsh, but swearing won't do you any good. It just helps prove my many points. Maybe next time you can back up your statements and stop posting old news which I have already replied to. No offense, of course. -Your friend, ER1C0
My response in blue. (not that it in all honesty warranted a response what you said speaks for itself. Volumes in fact.)
Okay, it's rather obvious you haven't read my posts, seeing as I already said please don't reply to me unless you quote, because it's a hassle for me... Now I'll just use green, again... My response in blue. (not that it in all honesty warranted a response what you said speaks for itself. Volumes in fact.) uhh.. okay
Unlike Jesus, we have an account for Julius Caesar's entire life, portraits of him carved during his lifetime, and a plethora of documentation either by him, or about him, written during his lifetime. He created a system of government which outlived him and his existence is important to the history of the time, it would be hard to write a coherent history of the period without Julius Caesar. So Julius Caesar can't be used as an excuse for Jesus's lack of evidence. Jesus didn't "definitely" not exist, but if he did, the bible would have been inspired by his existence, not a direct documentation of it. There are so many parallels between Jesus as depicted in the bible, and other stories of saviour figures, heroes and myths either pre-dating him, or originating at the same time period, that the bible discredits his existence rather than affirming it. I doubt Jesus existed.
greatjedi, honestly, in this entire thread, you have come off as a crazy manipulated child who knows nothing about history and just believes what he was "brainwashed" into believing by his father. There is really no proof of Jesus or God other then faith.
Exactly we even have busts of Caesars torso and head giving us an exact image of what he looked like. We still don't have know what exactly Jesus looks like because his life was so poorly documented and has large gaps in it.Caesar has little to no gaps in his life documentation. My overall point is that I don't believe Jesus existed in the way he was told sure there may have been many saviors before his time or a man known as jesus but none of them have legit documentation. So really we have no solid proof of them or their actions. I have so many points in my last 3 posts that I doubt Erico even glanced over them because he knew he was wrong. I backed my findings up with sources and Historical research he backed his arguments up with word play and bad research you guys be the judge of who has a more soldi argument. Oh wait we already did and we all agreed that Erico was wrong even his side of the argument ....hmmmmmm Lets see how poor your counter argument was, well you managed to hit the quote button and then say and I quote"you fell in my trap" Your trap? You mean your opinion trap with no creditable sources or evidence backing up your statements, man you got me I can't believe I walked right into it. [sarcasm] . lol
Blame the guy who decided it would be a good argument to prove Jesus's or gods existance. lets get back on topic now.
right. anyway, if god did exists he could just be a giant form of matter in space, or the universe it self
Fix'd The point is that many people in history have a lack of evidence as to whether they existed or not. Would you agree? Jesus is said to be one of these people. Now, we do have theories (just like Julius Caesar) as to what Jesus looks like. Many things are similar (and yes, some things aren't similar) when it comes to Jesus and other people in history. If that last statement is false, please disprove it. Otherwise, your view on Christ is corrupt, and I'm saying it's not that difficult to believe in something that doesn't have evidence. You've been doing it since you heard the name Julius Caesar. Plz read my posts.
You know something... I was supposed to leave this thread, but I can't because I love this debate. Jesus also had enemies, Jesus also had documentations, he had a grave, there were people who talked about him. Only difference was Jesus was not "Rich" so I don't get it, I think Erico may have gotten something but you all just ignore him and above all else insult him. So there is still no physical proof about Jesus but he also had writings just like Julies did, and Julies also has no physical proof of existence because there is no body. So why would you believe in Julies but not Jesus when they both technically have the same life. No bodies found for either of them but they did have documentations and stuff like that. My Faith meter has replenished... Lolz ^.^
For the last time, people, arguing with Erico is as good as arguing a brick wall. He isn't going to change his mind. About anything. Even if Jesus did exist, which I'm not even going to argue (who really cares?), how can you be sure that his claims were correct? The only only 'proof' you have is the bible and those who followed the bible. And unless you can prove God had a hand in writing the bible, it is just another book, just like any other.
I'm positive that Erico does believe Julies Existed, the point is that there is no body, you said that there needs to be "Physical" evidence to exist. So you believe the "Stories" about him so why don't you believe Jesus existed when there are also many "stories" about him. I just think you are not understanding what Erico is trying to say. I also believe that Erico is very mature for not getting angry at all the insults you guys are throwing at him. Stop being immature guys...
I have already been into this argument several times, and I will not do it again. Since you apparently weren't here the last 2 times Erico has brought this up, I'll try to summarize: Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Let's assume temporarily that Jesus and Julius Caesar have the same amount of evidence. In that case, I can safely believe that both of them existed. The difference is that your claims that Jesus is the son of god and bla bla bla are far more extraordinary that there being a popular Roman emperor sometime in the past. You will need much more evidence to prove this. Evidence that doesn't exist.
The man Jesus existed I'm sure you even believe he existed, what I do think is that you don't believe the "Jesus son of God" But the Jesus that was put on the Cross did exist. Weather he had these powers will be unknown only to those who met him.
I'm not arguing Jesus' powers alone. Where do you find proof in the bible or any religious text, for that matter?
