    Helix was born in Google Sketchup at the beginning of the summer. Its mother? AZN FTW... Well, not quite. Helix was originally a "Forge Contract," posted on AZN's wordpress page. I, Gunnergrunt, accepted the contract and began forging the map right away. Unfortunely, the map was deleted off my harddrive a quarter of the way through.
    That killed my motivation and caused a three week delay in the forging process. But eventually, I started up again and assembled the map (as shown in Sketchup) in a few weeks. AZN planned for the map to have an ample amount of budget and items left for me to add cover, railing, and aesthetics. He planned well. So, for the next week, I let my imagination work on the final touches.
    Once the map was structurally complete, AZN and I added objective points and such. The map, compatible with every single gametype, was then ready to test. And test we did. Because I was just starting my senior year of high school, AZN handled most of the testing himself (I joined in from time to time). He tested and adjusted the map until it was perfect.
    While preparing the map post, I was shocked to recieve a message from AZN declaring his leave from XBL. In one short parting message, he gave me full rights to Helix. Where he is now, we can only guess. But knowing AZN, he's got big plans. I wish him the best of luck wherever he may be. And hopefully he is pleased with Helix.

    wow I can tell a lot of time went into this. on thing I noticed though is that there aren't any grav lifts. that would limit attack points to the three paths. but no matter how you look at it whoever controls the middle is going to dominate. also a lack of Noob rails will piss a lot of people off. quick suggestion. if remove the walls from the top level and maybe put them on the bottom it would encourage people to jump down.

    Not to be the first to down you, I think it's a good map. Sorry if you were expecting me to rave about it, it's pretty good, not amazing. I remember AZN raging about how well it hosted capture the flag here and so on, and that it supported all the gametypes beautifully. My personal opinion? It plays well for Capture the Flag, tactical enough, the games just spanned much long for my taste. I realize it's an ATLAS map, but I don't see many people in matchmaking wanting to play a 15 minute capture the flag game because "it plays well". They're going to want to play it, win, get out, and start another game. I've never played Slayer here so I can't critique you on that. A fair amount of testing was done as well so your weapon placement turned out alright with the exception of the sniper placement which I despise. It's a good map, definitely is. A fair few Sky Bubble maps support 12 players fluidly, congrats on yours fitting the bill. It's a good map without a doubt, just not my style.

    OM NOM! That was a tasty post indeed. Quite a story behind this map too, that's odd to hear about AZN. Extremely nice layout; three stories with notably different interior and exterior areas. Really gives you the edificial feeling when entering a base and the outdoorsy feeling when leaving. Wonderful work, props to AZN for a crazy cool design and once again some trademark forge ownage from GunnerGrunt. Great map, it hath been DL'd.

    Actually, I think that's one of the reasons Halo 3 isn't as enjoyable as its ancestor. The games are always too short for my liking. Games are over before they can even get exciting, especially TS. Glad to hear this will provide some lengthy CTF games, where tactics are actually involved.

    Oh my God! That's all I can say! This is just the kind of map more people need to make, with creative design and not just another arena in the crypt or 2 bases on the mid layer of sandbox. This map has got to be one of the better ones on this site! I'm going to dl it asap and ecstatically play it!

    Alright I just got done checking out the map on my xbox and I've gotta say its a great map, it has an epic layout! I have two complaints though.....The map has basically no cover at all, another problem that makes the lack of cover all the more obnoxious is the fact that there aren't any options! Options of ways to go! That's a major map killer for playability, what I mean is that if you're playing and you come against a player better than you or you're just outnumbered there's no routes of escape from those situations, sure you can jump off the edge to a lower bridge but there's no cover so that's a useless move! Do you get where I'm coming from? This map needs that and maybe you should consider it if you make a v2 of the map, it would make an already good map into a great map people would have a hard time getting tired of! Anyway that's my heartfelt review of your map.

    Holy ****! Without playing it myself, the gameplay looks like it could be questionable but my god it is sexy. Is there any objects/budget left? It could probably be improved still with the addition with a couple more rails and perhaps some mancannons? I don't know, but I will download.

    wow. i clicked on this from the newest maps thinking that it was a featured map. I looked through the post and there was no doubt in my mind that i was where i thought i was. 15 minuets latter i come back and now my mind is blown.

    This for some reasons reminds me of disorientation, probably because, from the looks of it, it has the best aesthetics since disorientation in a competitive map. Anyway, if the game play is even half as good as it looks, i can see this going far. you have my download.

    Wow, another amazing map by Gunnergrunt and AZN FTW. I have to say when I first saw the map I thought it was all just one level,but to see this, its just amazing. Its sucks that its got deleted off of your harddrive, I dont think I could have kept going after that but im glad you did. Other then all of this super-duper forging, how many playing do your suggest this map for? 6/5 P.S. AZN FTW leaving? Wahy!?

    Sweet Chocolate! You made Archiac too didn't'cha? Get job on this, the Obelisk curve-around structure was the most impressive I've seen in many years. I also liked the multi-lever structure you have going on there. And the bottom with all of the grass was pulled off well with the alternating colored colums. Great job and a dl when I get back from school!

    Oh, I remember testing this map about two weeks ago if I recall it correctly. It was AR start and that sucked because I would have enjoyed the map more if it was BR start.

    Anyways, the game was pretty fun nonetheless. A very unique layout for two gifted forgers.

    Nice job, guys.

    The forging and aesthetics look AWESOME i can tell it was really thought about. However after testing it feels like gameplay has been neglected. there are three long paths to middle then three long paths to the other base. gameplay gets very boring very quickly im afraid. On a good note, im keeping this on my hard drive cos its looks so good 3/5

    Archaic was made by hezbollahector and someone else (don't remember his name).

    Anyhow, I have to agree with the others on need for cover on the bottom bridges. I realize it's meant to be a speed - lack of cover tradeoff, but I think a little bit would help. If you ask me, though, the map has terrific gameplay for everything but king of the hill. That stuff sucked. Anyhow, I'm reasonably surprised at AZN's absence since I haven't been online with you guys for a while.

    This is what I call an original map. The design is pretty unique, reminding me a bit of Narrows. This map indeed involves good tactics for, i.e., CtF and brings interesting TS games too. Good to see a good map in a while :D This sould get featured... Dl'd.

    the videos were pretty epic, how long did it take to aquire all that pwn3age? honestly i think this could easily get on to the bungie play list, i hope to see it.

    I wish bungie make maps like these. It remind me Narrows, but a way cooler Narrows.

    PS: a list of weapons would be good.

    Wow, the finished product got way farther than I thought it would when I first saw an early build of this. Glad to see it's here before the summer ended, and of course, the map looks great. The design not only looks cool, but is functional as well. I'm getting some games in tonight on this one.

    I really have no idea how i missed this on the thread haha. This map has some really amazing aesthetic value, iv read and heard of the testing of this and i have to agree that i love long lasting matches, CTF that last for like 2 minutes is so boring a very long drawn out they get it take it halfway then you fight to return it is amazing. You have my dl 100% this is one of the few i will keep on my list for my h3 weekend parties.

    I loved testing this thing, and I am really happy it's posted. I am however a little sad that my Needler Frenzy didn't make it to the video. :) This was a great map to test, and I wouldn't be suprised if it ended up getting featured. Great job AZN and Gunnergrunt.

    Hey, regarding CTF taking too long, you just have to adjust the game setting.
    I would suggest Narrows CTF, 3 to score, return in 5 seconds.

    Wowww ! I LOVE the architechture of your map , the multiple of floor , the bridge and i think me and my friends gonna have a lot of fun on that map ! 5/5 Featured map !
